The suffering of the holy martyrs Theodotus and Theodosia

The holy martyrs of Christ, Theodotus and Theodosius, were arrested on the orders of the wicked Emperor Trajan [Emperor Trajan reigned in the Roman Empire from 98 to 117 C.E.] and forced to renounce the true God and sacrifice to idols.

But they would not obey, and they gave them over to various tortures, and afterwards they put them in the same prison where the holy martyr of Christ, James, was imprisoned. The saint began to instruct and strengthen them in the faith of Christ, and the prison guards reported this to the emperor Trajan.

Then they hanged them, and burned them with candles, and cut off their heads from the tree.

After their death, the holy martyrs received eternal life and blissful rest, and their private bodies were buried in the place where they died a martyr's death.
